Nice that you took the time to read the information about the man behind the call PD5DP. All up-to-date information could Een oude foto van mij be found on QRZ.COM. Also use this address for a direct QSL-card to be sent.

I am born in the year 1965 in Amersfoort. We lived in a little town called Hoogland. Today this town is just a part of Het Noorden van Nederland Amersfoort. After 1.5 years we moved to Friesland. The town we moved to is called Wolvega. If you want to know more about Wolvega, please take a look on my special page about Wolvega and his region. My father is born in this region. I still live in this little town. On the map you can find my little village in a straight line between Leeuwarden and Zwolle.

At the moment I take care of my two kids. I am separated at the moment and a fulltime housefather. My interests I have to do between the care of my children. I would not have it another way. I love taking care of my children.

Below on this page you will also find our familybanner. It is a big family with also members in a lot of foreign countries. If you think your also could be a member of the Pit-family, please respond to my Email address.

The N-license I have since May 2001. I did the exam in April 2001 with a good result. The hobby started in 1980 on 11 meters (27Mhz.) with the start of legal CB-radio here in the Netherlands. We had 22 channels and only 0.5Watt FM in those days. I used it for some years and in 1985 I stopped with it due to lack of intrest. My school needed more attention and also I was pirating on 3 meters with a group called Westellingwerfse Regionale Omroep.

In 1993 I discovered the 11 meters again. At first I used a President AX31. This radio had 40 channels and 2Watts of output. Also I used an amplifier (which was not allowed) to increase my output to 15Watts. Those were the days I discovered that true meaning of DX-ing. I heard a lot of stations on 27.315 and channels arround this frequency. So I decided to go DX-ing.

Mijn familiewapenA few years earlier the gouvernment increased the number of channels to 40 (was 22) and the output to 2Watts (was 0.5Watts). Later the output which was permitted to use became 4Watts. Nowadays we may even uses SSB (4Watts PEP) and AM (1 Watt). I consider 11 meter as a fully free band to use and I do not understand why HAM's do not use the 11 meters band, because we could promote our hobby to others this way.

At the beginning of 2001 my friend PD5AR talked me into trying to get the N-license. That was the reason I did go to Nieuwegein to take the examenation. Just 40 questions and you are permitted to have 11 faults. I had two faults and one question was cancelled. So I did have one fault at the end. I was passed! Since May I have the call PD5DP. I did choose this call myself, because if you put this call the other way arround you get the same call again. Now working (learning) to get the big license. In Holland it is called the A-license. The first license you have to get is the C-license. The only difference with the A-license is MORSE. The plans here are to delete the MORSE demand and to give every C-license HAM the A-license conditions. Since September 2003 MORSE exam has not to be taken anymore to work on HF. I only have to get the C license now!

My goal is working on HF. I love the HF. Since my childhood I listened often to the SW-radio (with tubes) just wondering about the strange foreign signals, beeps and 'Cold War' sounds. I was just about 6 years I think. It created a big interest for radio in general.

I hope you know a little bit more about the man behind the call PD5DP. If you have questions, please let me know by Email and I hope that I am able to answer any questions.
